Adore Weddings & Events Celebrating Laughter, Love & Light

Alex & Vaughn’s 1st Anniversary Shoot

I love the way a love story grows deeper over time, I love the way shared memories and experiences add a richness and depth to a relationship over the years, and I love the beauty of a marriage that encourages and grows these qualities. Alex and Vaughn chose to celebrate their first anniversary with a gorgeous shoot, and their continuing, growing love as they walk life together is so evident in these beautiful images captured by Vanilla Photography. This couple is just too special. Thank you for choosing me to play and make flower pretty for your shoot guys! Here’s to the next 50-something years of anniversaries. So much love to you both xxx

Making Art

There are some people in this life of mine who stretch, challenge, nurture and grow me every single time we work together. Jacki Bruniquel is one of those special humans. It is with thanks to Jax that I even figured out I could make pretty with flowers and decor in the first place, in the kindest way she bullied me into helping her out with a styled engagement shoot for clients - you can see it here, and my world opened into a million new directions from that one day. Monday’s styled shoot resonated with the same energy I felt at that first incredible shoot. It’s not every day you’re on set for almost six hours working to create the perfect shot. Monday blew my mind. I hands down loved it! A new challenge, approaching styling in a different way, working with delicious texture as opposed to beautiful blooms, learning, learning, learning about what does and doesn’t translate from ground to lens … it was incredible. I loved it. And I love that this is the first of a series we’re planning on creating. Thank you Jax for stretching and inspiring me. Thank you Guy for being willing, thank you Julia and Liz for the support and love, and thank you Drew for being the genius you are.

Bougainvillea Bohemia Styled Shoot

I love the playful boho whimsy from this day. Something bright, fresh, pretty and different for a beach shoot!

I personally love foraging and then supplementing what is in season and locally available with my traditionally pretty favorites (roses and the like). You always find the best perfectly imperfect flowers when they are allowed to grow wild. They emerge with interestingly shaped branches and stems and little quirks in their petals. I love their unexpected surprises. They are just so much more fun and pretty to work with when they bring extra movement and texture to a bouquet or arrangement. This shoot allowed for loads of playful foraging with hot pink bougainvillea, pink frangipanni and vine salvaged from the road side and out my garden. Sheer delight to the soul!

Thank you to the wonderful team that helped make this happen, you guys make my heart happy just because I get to love and work with you. Enjoy the playful pretty friends x

Cam & Dina’s Engagement Shoot

A few months ago, Bronny, Tia and I hopped into my car and meandered down the South Coast to meet two high school sweet hearts who were recently engaged. Cam and Dina live on Dina’s beautiful family farm, with views over endless ocean and a river running through their land. Right on the river’s edge, where Cam proposed to Dina, we set up our shoot - how incredibly romantic? It was such a pleasure to meet this special couple (and their dogs, who were right at home in front of the camera too!).

Cam and Dina will be getting married on the farm in May, an old shed is being converted into a beautiful venue space! I think it is every farm girl’s dream to get married back home on the farm, Dina you lucky lady! This is going to be such a special day for you both, much love and happiness to you. I wish you a lifetime of adventure and joy!

Enjoy these pretty pics friends!

Ash & Jom Anniversary Shoot - Soft and Pretty

Ash and Jom have been married for 7 years! To celebrate this beautiful milestone, they decided to have a styled shoot. This is the pretty that Bronny, Cam, Ash, Jom and I pulled together in honour of their love story.

This shoot is especially special because Ash is a team member. She often comes in to help me create the pretty for weddings … her ‘job description’, along with an arm long list of skills and talents, includes keeping us watered and fed while we’re on the go! Bless you Ash for reminding me to eat, for your ongoing, deep enthusiasm and for all your support and love - especially after a couple of 18 hour days in a row! You are so deeply appreciated xxx

Enjoy the pretty friends!

Sneak Peak - Ciao Bella Styled Shoot with Derryn Semple Photography

Wedding planning can be overwhelming. Not everyone is involved in the industry every weekend, so it can be difficult to figure out exactly how much each aspect of a wedding can cost. Derryn and I have been wanting to do a shoot and article discussing the realistic costs involved with translating your pinterest board wedding into reality ever since her own wedding. We are so looking forward to sharing this article (and our pretty images) with you soon! Go read Derryn’s post in the mean time. Enjoy friends x

Sneak Peak - Cam & Dina Engagement Shoot

Last week we headed down the south coast to meet these two special humans for their engagement shoot on Dina’s family farm. We set up camp right at the spot where Cam asked Dina to be his wife - under a tree on the water’s edge. This place is absolutely beautiful! They will be celebrating their wedding on their home farm too. Got to love a farm wedding! I loved the way their five furry friends got to be a part of their shoot too. Cam and Dina, thank you very much for inviting us to come and play! You are both just lovely. Very pretty pics were snapped by the talented and lovely Bron from Vanilla Photography. A special thanks to Tia from Nixon Make-up for your work! Flowers, styling and decor by Carolyn of Adore Weddings. Enjoy friends x

Styled Shoot - The Wyatts

I absolutely loved this shoot, and I’m completely thrilled with how it turned out! Such an enormous and sincere thank you to all the clever creatives involved, and a special thank you to newly weds the Wyatts who were total rock stars and game for all our antics!

I have to borrow Bronny’s beautiful quote to include with this shoot, because it fits perfectly … and it’s beautiful.

marry your best friend. i do not say that lightly. really, truly find the strongest, happiest friendship in the person you fall in love with. someone who speaks highly of you. someone you can laugh with. the kind of laughs that makes your belly ache and your nose snort. the embarrassing, earnest, healing kinds of laughs. wit is important. life is too short not to love someone who lets you be a fool with them. make sure they are somebody who lets you cry, too. despair will come. find someone who you want to be there with you through those times. most importantly, marry someone who lets passion, love and madness combine and course through you. a love that will never dilute – even when the waters get deep and dark…

I loved meeting this special young lady and working with her over the course of a wonderful winter’s day on the East Coast! Romantic Styled Shoot - Whimsical Beauty

I simply love being inspired by creatives in this industry! It’s always a blessing to get to put together a concept, plan a shoot, pack everything you need … then literally just go with what happens when we arrive on site! There’s something magic involved in the organic immediacy when you get to work in this manner.

That’s exactly what took place with this little project. Bron of Vanilla Photography and I had been looking to collaborate on a styled shoot when she proposed an elegant/romantic/whimsical/touch-of-boho/provence feel shoot complete with an organic flower crown, raw wood table, organic table arrangements, touches of copper, and loads of soft light and pretty … exactly my vibe! Ash Hully very kindly came on board with two of her gorgeous dresses, the lovely Laura Halgreen brought her awesome hair and make up talents to the team, the completely beautiful Rossland Ward volunteered as our model, and Barker Manor generously allowed us the run of their pretty new venue for the day. Stunning stationery was provided by Alice May, and the gorgeous little heart biscuits by Lemon Canary Bakery.

Part one (featured here) worked beautifully. Part two was almost an afterthought, thrown together with whatever I had in my magic box of tricks … and it turned out exquisitely! I truly do adore being inspired by creatives in this industry! What an awesome shoot. Enjoy friends x

Botanical Bohemian Styled Shoot

This was one of those serendipitous shoots that just fell together in a perfect union of unintended coincidence. Fiona and I had been toying with the idea of doing a relaxed, fun, creative styled shoot together for ages but had always had weather or conflicting schedule issues. Then one Monday afternoon, everything just fell together, and the following day we were a part of something magic. Eagle’s Cry very generously allowed us the full use of their facilities, Lauren Halgreen came on board for hair and make up, Terry-Lynn was available as our model, Fi worked her magic behind the lens and I managed to rustle up a wedding dress from a kind friend, and throw together a bit of flower and styling creativity. None of us met prior to arriving at the shoot to plan, we just went with it and I am so proud of the results! Half our styling happened on the trot, putting together table and flower elements as we went. It was such a laid back shoot that literally an hour before the shoot, Fi’s incredibly talented friend Julia Ferreria came on board with additional dresses … and the rest is history! This was literally an opportunity to stretch ourselves creatively, to play rather than work to an agenda for just a little bit … and to have a little fun together. What an awesome day!

Enjoy the magic friends x

OK, are you ready for this? I am so excited to share these images by Dean Maber, one half of the awesome Maber team and husband to Samantha Maber - both extraordinary photographers. Ronny & Nats Engagement Shoot

Nats and Ronny get married next week (hooray), so I feel it is very fitting to post their engagement shoot pics today. It is one of my greatest joys to get to meet special people who are completely in love and who have decided to make the beautiful commitment to spend the rest of their lives together, and to then be invited to be a very small part of their beautiful journey! Nathalie Lopes and Ronny da Silva are two such people. I had the privilege of meeting them well before I finished at Netherwood and it has been my delight to be involved in their wedding planning since then! I just adore this couple. They are warm, loving, generous and gentle. Nat’s favorite colour is yellow and she loves pretty spaces, so it was very easy to find the perfect location for their engagement shoot - a field of sun hemp right across the road from our house. My incredibly talented friend Jacki Bruniquel was the genius behind the lense (amazing work as usual) and was assisted by Tash and Stew. The beautiful Make up and Hair was by Charelle McAllister, one of the softest and most lovely artists I’ve had the joy of working with. Styling, flowers and flower crown by Adore Weddings and Events. Thank you to everyone involved for a magically beautiful day. Nats and Ronny, I am so excited for your wedding next week! It is going to be magical. All my love x

Brett & Zara’s Engagement Shoot

I absolutely love this couple. I’ve had the joy of knowing Zara since we were kids, she is force of delight and has one of the happiest and most generous hearts I know. Brett is her perfect partner; kind, gentle, compassionate, quiet … with a delightfully wicked little spark that makes you laugh in the best way! We had the privilege of working with them on their engagement shoot, shot on Brett’s family farm. Our creative team was made up of Jacki Bruniquel - the creative genius behind the lense, assisted by the lovely Tash. Flowers by my dear friend Floey Vanderplank who is now based in Kenya … any Kenyan brides do yourselves a favour and book her for your wedding this minute! Hair and make up by Kym of Kym Hair-Make Up - you have never met a bubblier, more entertaining, enthusiastic or energised force in your life, she is superb to have on your team! And decor / styling by Adore Weddings & Events. What a fantastic shoot! Enjoy friends x

P.S: Zara & Brett’s weddings pictures will be coming soon! Watch this space … theirs was a wedding to remember!

Luis & Nicole’s Enchanted Forest Engagement Shoot

I am completely thrilled with how beautifully this shoot turned out! Jax and I dreamed up this fun, different, mysterious and romantic Enchanted Forest engagement shoot for the loveliest couple, Luis and Nicole’s engagement shoot. The shoot was based at Bishop’s Seat in Eshowe’s Dlinza Forest, and we were very blessed to get to work with some of our favorite friends in the wedding industry.

A very big thank you to the dream team: Jacki Bruniquel and her assistant Tash for the photography, Drew Christie from Evolve for the AWESOME hair, Charelle McAllister for once again working her magic with make up, Stu for being the general run around slave labour / problem solver / fire maker / heavy lifter and extra set of hands, Nikita Shaye Singh from Love & Cheese for the beautiful cheese cake, Tracey Laubscher from Olivelli Durban for the stunning black wedding dress, and the team from The George Hotel in Eshowe for their awesome hospitality. And most of all, thank you to Luis Dos Santos and Nicole Carreira for being such stars and putting up with our creative antics! Blessings to you both for your wedding in February, I can’t wait to see your wedding pics! Styling, decor and flowers by Adore Weddings and Events.

Paul & Pippa’s Post-Wedding Shoot

Paul and Pippa are South Africans living and working in the UK, as such they opted for a post-wedding shoot as opposed to an engagement shoot. Paul and Pippa are two of the most gentle, content and deeply in love people you will ever meet. Watching Paul watch his bride with such a deep pride is beautiful, and watching the way Pippa’s eyes light up when she sees Paul watching her touches your heart. It was a delight to meet this lovely couple and get to work with them.

Jacki Bruniquel assembled her dream team, and the images below are the result. A huge thank you to Paul and Pippa for being game for our antics, Drew Christie from Evolve for the sensational hair, Charelle McAllister for the flawless make up, Floey Vanderplank from Floey Flowers for the floral magic (including flower crown), the White House for use of their venue and beautiful gardens, Adore Weddings and Events in association with Planned to Perfection for decor and Carolyn McNeil for styling. Images compliments of Jacki Bruniquel Art and Photography.
